Very good 4-core/4-thread processor. There were some hang ups with getting Ubuntu running with the corresponding motherboard I tested it on, but most gamers are running which Windows, which won't encounter problems. Handles quite a few applications running simultaneously and can handle needs for most gamers. For gamers running core intensive games, consider the AMD Threadripper 1920x. This comes with it's own cooler which works perfectly fine assuming you are not overclocking or running at 100% usage 24hrs/7days/52weeks/year.
